"Monks, there are these four mental bonds.
Which four?
The mental bond of sensuality, the mental bond of existence, the mental bond of views, the mental bond of ignorance -
these, monks, are the four mental bonds.
For the direct knowledge, full understanding, utter elimination, and abandoning of these four mental bonds, monks, etc.
this noble eightfold path is to be developed."
