50.
I am born in two families, in the warrior caste and also in the brahmin caste.
51.
I am handsome and pure, with complete limbs, not deficient.
52.
In existence golden-coloured, like molten gold.
53.
My skin is always so, when the Bodhi leaves are well discarded.
54.
Dust and dirt do not cling, the result when the bowl is discarded.
55.
Sweat does not emit from his body, the result when the bowl is discarded.

Female and male slaves, attendants, become followers of his mind.

From that the life span does not diminish, it remains as long as life lasts.
64.
All are engaged, desiring growth, wishing for happiness.
65.
Free from fear and trembling, may I be in every existence.
66.
All of them protect him, as he transmigrates through existences always.

The Life History of the Elder Sugandha
81.
Kassapa by clan, the best of speakers arose.
82.
Surrounded by a fathom-wide radiance, covered with a net of rays.
83.
An extinguisher like a cloud, a mine of virtues like the ocean.
84.
Like space in wisdom, unattached like the wind.
85.
Makes known the truths, lifting up the great multitude.
86.
I was then of abundant wealth and grain, of much.
87.
I saw the stainless Buddha, teaching the Deathless state.
88.
With a proclamation like the calls of swans, teaching the great multitude.
89.
Having abandoned not insignificant wealth, I went forth into homelessness.
90.
I was a preacher of the Teaching, with varied inspiration.
91.
I praised the excellence of the golden-coloured one, skilled in praising.
92.
Having attained the elimination of all action, liberated in the extinction of clinging.
93.
The one who sets in motion the sublime wheel for the world with its gods.
94.
An extinguisher and comforted, a consoler of the great multitude.
95.
Victorious and a conqueror, not proud, without attachment.
96.
A beast of burden, a leading bull, an elephant, a lion, able even among the venerable.
97.
Without barrenness and free from the dart, matchless, self-controlled, pure.
98.
Warrior, Buddha, learned and unlearned, immovable, joyful, smiling.
99.
The gladdener, the breaker, the cutter, the stream, the praised one.
100.
Without longing, stainless, the doer, odours, the speaker, the praised one.
101.
One who causes to attain, enduring, lovely, a slayer, ardent, an ascetic.
102.
Marvellous being, without deceit, one who has done what was to be done, the seventh sage.
103.
Gone beyond all paths of speech, the Conqueror who has reached the end of what is to be understood through truth.
104.
Therefore faith in the Buddha and the Teaching and the Community is of great benefit.
105.
In the midst of the assembly, I gave a talk on the Teaching.
106.
Having passed away from there among human beings, I was born as Sugandhika.
107.
And the odour of sweat constantly, all odours are mine.
108.
The assembly always blows fragrant, and likewise my body too.
109.
All with fully focused minds, I will praise, listen to me.
110.
I am happy everywhere, the Community is endowed with heroes.
111.
A speaker, not despised, faultless, and likewise wise.
112.
I will declare their cause, listen to that according to truth.
113.
Wherever I am reborn, by that I become famous.
114.
Praising them, I was a giver of happiness, and from that I was happy among beings.
115.
I generated my own radiance and others' radiance, thereby becoming radiant.
116.
Speaking the virtue, I illuminated the leader, brilliant from that.
117.
Like the autumn moon with its hare, therefore I was agreeable to behold.
118.
The Fortunate One, therefore Vāgīsa, with variegated inspiration.
119.
I rebuked them by the Good Teaching, I am not despised by that.
120.
I became one with a mind free from defilements, owing to that action.
121.
Thereby I was wise, one gifted with introspection into subtle meanings.
122.
Like fire without clinging, I shall attain peace.
123.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of praising the Buddha.
