At Sāvatthī.
Standing to one side, that deity spoke this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:
"One who has children delights in children;
Likewise, one has cattle delights in cattle.
Acquisitions truly are a man’s delight;
For without acquisitions one does not delight."
"One who has children sorrows over children;
Likewise, one who has cattle sorrows over cattle.
Acquisitions truly are a man’s sorrows;
For without acquisitions one does not sorrow."
