At Sāvatthī.
Standing to one side, that deity spoke this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:
"Times pass by, nights hurry on,
The stages of life gradually give up;
Seeing this danger in death,
One should do meritorious deeds that bring happiness."
"Times pass by, nights hurry on,
The stages of life gradually give up;
Seeing this danger in death,
One seeking peace should abandon worldly gains."
