"Monks, one possessed of six qualities, even while hearing the Good Teaching, is incapable of entering upon the fixed course, the right path, in wholesome mental states.
With which six?
He is possessed of obstruction by kamma, he is possessed of obstruction by mental defilements, he is possessed of obstruction by kamma results, and he is faithless, and without desire, and unwise.
Monks, one possessed of these six qualities, even while hearing the Good Teaching, is incapable of entering upon the fixed course, the right path, in wholesome mental states.
"Monks, one possessed of six qualities, while hearing the Good Teaching, is capable of entering upon the fixed course, the right path, in wholesome mental states. With which six? He is not possessed of obstruction by kamma, he is not possessed of obstruction by mental defilements, he is not possessed of obstruction by kamma results, and he has faith, and has desire, and is wise. Monks, one possessed of these six qualities, while hearing the Good Teaching, is capable of entering upon the fixed course, the right path, in wholesome mental states." The second.
