At Sāvatthī.
"There are, monks, these four realms of supaṇṇas.
What are the four?
Beings born in eggs, etc.
these, monks, are the four realms of supaṇṇas.
Therein, monks, supaṇṇas born in eggs carry off only serpents born in eggs, not those born in wombs, not those born in moisture, not those spontaneously born.
Therein, monks, supaṇṇas born in wombs carry off serpents born in eggs and serpents born in wombs, not those born in moisture, not those spontaneously born.
Therein, monks, supaṇṇas born in moisture carry off serpents born in eggs and serpents born in wombs and serpents born in moisture, not those spontaneously born.
Therein, monks, spontaneously born supaṇṇas carry off serpents born in eggs and serpents born in wombs and serpents born in moisture and spontaneously born serpents.
These, monks, are the four realms of supaṇṇas."
