The Life History of the Elder Thomaka
1.
Having heard the Teaching, joyful, I spoke these words.
2.
You help many people cross over, teaching the Deathless state.'
3.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of praise.
4.
The six higher knowledges have been realized, the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled."
Thus the Venerable Elder Thomaka spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Thomaka is the first.

The Life History of the Elder Ekāsanadāyaka
Wishing to make an aspiration, in the Dispensation of the Buddha, the foremost.
To him almsfood was given by me, with a clear mind.

I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of almsfood.

Thus the Venerable Elder Ekāsanadāyaka spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Ekāsanadāyaka is the second.
3.
The Life History of the Elder Citakapūjaka
Attained final Nibbāna in the forest, in a grove inhabited by non-human spirits.
I burnt the body there, and I made honour.

I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of honouring the Buddha.

Thus the Venerable Elder Citakapūjaka spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Citakapūjaka is the third.

The Life History of the Elder Ticampakapupphiya

In the middle of it dwells an ascetic with developed faculties.
14.
Having taken three champaka flowers, I sprinkled them.
15.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of honouring the Buddha.

Thus the Venerable Elder Ticampakapupphiya spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Ticampakapupphiya is the fourth.

The Life History of the Elder Sattapāṭaliya
17.
Seven trumpet-flower blossoms, upon the Buddha I placed.
18.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of honouring the Buddha.

Thus the Venerable Elder Sattapāṭaliya spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Sattapāṭaliya is the fifth.

The Life History of the Elder Upāhanadāyaka
A pair of sandals was given by me, bring about enlightenment for me, you.

I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of sandals.

Thus the Venerable Elder Upāhanadāyaka spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Upāhanadāyaka is the sixth.

The Life History of the Elder Mañjaripūjaka
I saw the foremost of ascetics, honoured by the community of monks.
Having held up with both hands, I placed it upon the Buddha.

I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of flower-offering.

Jotiya by name, a wheel-turning monarch of great power.

Thus the Venerable Elder Mañjaripūjaka spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Mañjaripūjaka is the seventh.

The Life History of the Elder Paṇṇadāyaka
I was one who ate unsalted leaves, and restrained in observances.
That I gave to the Buddha, devoted, with my own hands.

I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of giving leaves.
31.
Endowed with the seven treasures, a wheel-turning monarch of great power.
32.
Thus the Venerable Elder Paṇṇadāyaka spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Paṇṇadāyaka is the eighth.

The Life History of the Elder Kuṭidāyaka

Having made a leaf-hut, I gave it to the unconquered one.
34.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of giving a hut.
35.
'Raining everywhere,' they were called, universal monarchs.
36.
Thus the Venerable Elder Kuṭidāyaka spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Kuṭidāyaka is the ninth.

The Life History of the Elder Aggapupphiya
Illuminating with rays, like Sikhi, like a fire.
With a confident mind, glad at heart, I placed it upon the Buddha.

Endowed with the seven treasures, a wheel-turning monarch of great power.
41.
Thus the Venerable Elder Aggapupphiya spoke these verses.
The life history of the Elder Aggapupphiya is the tenth.
