The Chapter on Supāricariya
1.
The Life History of the Elder Supāricariya
Having gone forth from the wilds, the one with vision teaches the Teaching.
2.
Having arrived for whatever purpose, they looked on at that very moment.
3.
With a confident mind, glad at heart, having clapped my hands, I attended.
4.
For thirty thousand cosmic cycles, I was not reborn in an unfortunate realm.
5.
Endowed with the seven treasures, a wheel-turning monarch of great power.
6.
The six higher knowledges have been realized, the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled."
Thus the Venerable Elder Supāricariyo spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Supāricariya is the first.

The Life History of the Elder Kaṇaverapupphiya
Honoured by disciples, proceeded towards the city.
8.
Seated in the mansion, I saw the leader of the world.
9.
Having made a separate offering to the Buddha, I then sprinkled even more.
10.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of honouring the Buddha.
11.
Accomplished with the seven treasures, wheel-turning monarchs of great power.
12.
Thus the Venerable Elder Kaṇaverapupphiya spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Kaṇaverapupphiya is the second.

The Life History of the Elder Khajjakadāyaka
And I gave a coconut, a sweet-meat well esteemed.
14.
I rejoice, one who possesses sensual pleasures as desired, I was reborn wherever I wished.
15.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of giving fruit.
16.

Thus the Venerable Elder Khajjakadāyaka spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Khajjakadāyaka is the third.

The Life History of the Elder Desapūjaka
Having risen up into the sky, goes through the sky-path.

That region I venerated, devoted, with my own hands.
20.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of honouring a region.

Thus the Venerable Elder Desapūjaka spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Desapūjaka is the fourth.

The Life History of the Elder Kaṇikārachattiya
The sage, for the day residence, plunged into the great forest.

Having made a flower covering, I placed it upon the Buddha.
25.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of honouring the Buddha.

Accomplished with the seven treasures, wheel-turning monarchs of great power.
27.
Thus the Venerable Elder Kaṇikāracchattiya spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Kaṇikārachattiya is the fifth.

The Life History of the Elder Sappidāyaka
The hero goes along the street, extinguishing the great multitude.

Then, having held up that bowl, I gave ghee and oil.
30.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of the gift of ghee.

Thus the Venerable Elder Sappidāyaka spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Sappidāyaka is the sixth.

The Life History of the Elder Yūthikapupphiya
There I saw the Self-Become One, like a fully blossomed king of sal trees.

With a confident mind, glad at heart, I placed it upon the Buddha.

I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of honouring the Buddha.

Thus the Venerable Elder Yūthikapupphiya spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Yūthikapupphiya is the seventh.

The Life History of the Elder Dussadāyaka
Having received a present, I was always a servant of the Peaceful One.

Siddhattha, having consented, rose up into the sky.
40.
There I gladdened my mind, the Buddha is our foremost person.
41.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of giving cloth.
42.
By the name Parisuddha, a lord of men of great power.
43.
Thus the Venerable Elder Dussadāyaka spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Dussadāyaka is the eighth.
9.
The Life History of the Elder Samādapaka
Of them I was the most excellent, and they were my bound companions.
45.
'Let us build a pavilion for the Community, the unsurpassed field of merit.'
46.
And having completed that pavilion, we gave to Vipassī.
47.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of giving a pavilion.
48.
There was one lord of men.
Ādeyya by name, a wheel-turning monarch of great power.
49.
Thus the Venerable Elder Samādapaka spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Samādapaka is the ninth.

The Life History of the Elder Pañcaṅguliya
The sage, skilled in dwelling, enters the perfumed chamber.
51.
And silently towards the Self-enlightened One, I gave a five-fingered salute.
52.
I do not know of an unfortunate realm, this is the fruit of the five fingers.
53.

54.
Thus the Venerable Elder Pañcaṅguliya spoke these verses.
The Life History of the Elder Pañcaṅguliya is the tenth.
The Chapter on Supāricariya is the seventeenth.
