The Discourse on Māgadha
85.
At Sāvatthī.
Standing to one side, Māgadha the young god addressed the Blessed One in verse -
"How many lights are there in the world, by which the world is illuminated?
Having come to ask you, how may we know this?"
"There are four lights in the world, a fifth is not found here;
The sun shines by day, the moon radiates at night.
"And fire shines here and there by day and night;
The Perfectly Enlightened One is the best of those that shine, this radiance is unsurpassed."
