The Discourse on Cūḷapanthaka
50.
Thus have I heard -
On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's park.
Now at that time the Venerable Cūḷapanthaka was seated not far from the Blessed One, folding his legs crosswise, directing his body upright, having established mindfulness in front of him.
The Blessed One saw the Venerable Cūḷapanthaka seated not far away, folding his legs crosswise, directing his body upright, having established mindfulness in front of him.
Then the Blessed One, having understood this matter, at that time uttered this inspired utterance -
Whether standing, seated, or lying down;
A monk resolving upon this mindfulness,
Would obtain the distinction from before to after;
Having obtained the distinction from before to after,
One should go beyond the sight of the King of Death." The tenth.
